Daily Summary 2.5

Group 3 Daily Group Summary 2.5 - Friday, June 24, 2016
Here we are two-thirds of the way through the course. I never imagined I could
learn so much at once, but it continues to happen! Step by step, piece by piece, the
whole puzzle is coming into view.

Today Shannon had us rocking and rolling through Chapters 9 and 10 of
DuBravac’s characteristics of Online Assessment and Alternative Assessments (like
projects and presentations).

We revised our class participation rubrics and posted them after much tormented
thought (speaking for myself). It was great to see the rubrics posted yesterday by
all including my teammates: Rebecca, Hui and Monica. They each included things in
their rubric that I had not thought of. I was really happy to have a peek and imagine
I will borrow some of their ideas in the future.

In Activity 2 we took one activity from a F2F class on video and wrote a lesson on
how we could transition that activity into an online or blended class. The most
challenging portion of this stems from one question: Will the technology I see today,
be there online when our classes are in session?

Activity 3 required reflection about the week’s activities and learning. There were
many offerings. One thing that I forgot to mention in my reflection was how much I
enjoyed the opportunity to use Google Hangouts to complete an info gap activity
with my partner. My partner kept me focused. She was very patient as I sounded
out the letters. My second partner was also wonderful. I came to both partner
practices thinking that I was prepared, but I was not! My second partner also gave
me a chance to practice in a different way. Those who were able to make it to the
Synchronous Google Hangout session probably found that that meeting provided
some needed organization to our thoughts up to this moment.

And finally, we had Russian lessons on pronouns and verb transformation. We also
created a Voice Thread describing a classmate.
